A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT August, 2010
Greetings, Fellow Prospectors,
The days of summer are growing short, so if you aren't getting out, you had better hurry. Before you know it we will be
looking at fall, and winter approaching us.
The club outing to Alma turned out to another big bust!!! The pay to dig claim at Tin Pan is too far to reach the water for
most of us, making it difficult to get to. You have to go down over a bank that is about 100 feet to the bottom, and very steep and rocky. If you had to carry a motor for a high banker, it
would be a major undertaking.
Some of our members did purchase some of the dirt, which did have some gold in it. We did much better at the Derry Ranch pay
to dig near Buena Vista. Some of us went over to Mosquito Gulch to try to get a little gold there. We didn't have much luck there either. I think we will stick to our sites that we know we
can get gold every time we go out.
Our big summer outing to our claims on the Delores River is coming up on Labor Day Weekend.
Try to make this one. You will be working in the river, so take the proper equipment for getting wet. For those of you who can't make it to Grand Junction, I will be hosting a hot dog and
chili panning day, at my house in Colorado Springs. We will work some of the dirt I brought home from various locations. Come and join the fun on Monday, Labor Day.
The September meeting is on the 1st at 7 p.m. If you need directions to my house, call me or come to meeting for directions. This meeting is also our 4th anniversary of starting the club. We will be having a sheet cake, and come and help us celebrate. You have made this club a success. Keep up the good work by supporting it.
Well, don't forget to get out and get your share of that good yellow gold!! See you at the meeting.
